Who are we?

O2 is a College Ministry from Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas.

What is the vision?

O2 exists to raise up a radical generation of young adults who love God, love one another, and transform the world.

This is what the vision means...

I hear the voice of God:

Do you not hear my voice? Do you not hear the cry of my heart? Do you not know that you are beloved, on you my favor rests? Come and sit at my feet. Come and rest in my presence. Know that I am God, your father. For I know my sheep, and my sheep know me. There is nothing I do not know--I see your pains and your struggles, I see your failures and your fears, I see your joys and your victories. I know when you laugh, I know when you cry. You are forgiven, redeemed. You are beautifully made. You are never alone. In silence, in song, in the prayers of your heart, come and worship me. And you will be filled.

I see a people who dance.

I see brothers and sisters with terrible wounds and many scars, who come together and understand the love that says, "greater love has no one than this, that a man lays down his life for his friends." I hear people speaking from beyond the walls of superficiality, insecurity, and fear. I hear conversations that are about so many things, but ultimately they are about God.

I see people in the world focused on the spiritual life--our life with God and with others.

I hear a movement of prayer. From out of the depths of souls come simple words and much silence.

A place where prayer is as common as conversation, and conversation becomes a transcendent connection between two souls.

I hear music, experience art, watch dance and drama and video and I encounter the truth of my God.

I see a place where power is released--not used for personal gain or growth--but let go and given to others

A place where no one is alone, yet when they feel alone, it's ok because they know they're not.

A place where it's ok to be broken, where our process is celebrated as much as our victories.

A place where wounds are shared and our scars are celebrated as the pathway to God's heart.

I see a radical band of followers who will go out into the world outside their door and heed the words of the prophet Jeremiah, "He helped the cause of the poor and the needy...is that not what it means to know the Lord?” Who will march out to meet not just physical needs, but to satisfy the deep spiritual hunger of the needy. Who model the reality of the God who is there.

A people who understand that the world is not someplace "out there," but that instead we live intensely "in" it. A people who understand compassion--to suffer with. Who see the beggar sitting on the corner, and who do not look away out of shame or embarrassment, but look into their eyes and have mercy.

I imagine a group of leaders who will come before their group without pretense without fear, and simply say "I love you. I am going to be honest with you. I am committed to you no matter what. This will be a safe place. I will be a safe person. Though I will fail and disappoint you, I will not stop trying. Let's just be together."

And I see the light of God driving away the darkness, for a little light can drive away a lot of darkness.

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
